Catchlight Photography is Mark and Elizabeth Bush. We offer creative on-location portraiture, wedding, and event photography in and around Evansville, Indiana.
Our relaxed approach to photography allows us use the composition and artistry of our medium to capture a glimpse of your personality. That’s why we prefer on-location rather than studio photography. Our sessions are more like hanging out at the park with a couple of friends and less like an agonizing, formal studio sitting. There are no forced, cheesy smiles; no stiff poses. Just you and your family being yourselves. This informal setting provides a better chance to capture you and your loved ones in a relaxed, natural, candid moment. The outcome is a series of portraits that show who you really are.
The most common question we hear is, "What should I wear?" Here are a few tips that we hope will help.
First and foremost, We want you to be relaxed and comfortable with whatever you choose to wear. Wear clothes that your family would normally wear, so your style and character come through - you will then be more comfortable with your look. The rest of these tips rank a distant second in terms of importance.
Solid colors are preferred. Busy patterns and loud colors can be very distracting in your portraits. Avoid large and bold patterns that might tend to draw attention away from your face. Avoid patterns, stripes, and plaids unless you love them and they are a true representation of your personality. Avoid logos or branding as these will distract from the people in the portrait.
Choose whether your portrait is to be formal or casual and get all family members to dress accordingly; try not to mix styles. Traditional styles will stand the test of time and keep your portrait looking fresh for years to come.
Necklines are important. A vee or scoop neck is best if your neck is short and your face is full. A turtle neck or high necked garment is more flattering if your neck is longer and your face is slender.
Some poses will show your shoes so don't forget to bring shoes and socks for each outfit that you plan to wear.
